Synopsis (from Goodreads):
Renowned photographer Chris Malone is fed up with fame and disaster. All he wants is anonymity and a chance to recharge. Suburban journalist Ellie Flannery has other ideas. If she can just convince her long-time idol to support her favorite cause, she knows her fund-raiser will be a huge success.

After refusing at first, Chris decides to co-operate. When he’s forced to defend his own reputation as well as his family’s, he decides he wants something from the idealistic and sexy-but-doesn’t-know-it Ms Flannery Ellie in return: her heart.

But Ellie has scars that no one has ever seen, and she doesn’t want to open herself up to anyone, much less a man with such an unflinching eye for the truth. Can Chris convince her to strip herself bare, in more ways than one?

My Review:
I rather enjoyed reading this book, Ellie and Chris are both beautiful characters in their own way but they are both hiding terrible secrets and scars which you see them establishing walls against intimacy ensuring no-one gets too close. This book is 127 pages long it is not enough page time to include detailed back stories but Victoria give us just enough to understand her lead characters and even though our first impressions of the aren’t all that great they have plenty of time to redeem themselves.

The supporting characters were charming and helped the flow and pace set for the story. But Ellie’s grandparents and motivator for Ellie’s charitable pursuits are just very lovely, they symblised the old married couple together forever and living off the land. An ideal marriage many of us young want to aspire for.

But the character who really was the driving force behind the story was Ellie’s BFF Bron, she has left the city and her career as a journalist behind to raise a family but she has not lost her journalistic instincts and they are what kicked the story into first gear.

Not only does Victoria explore the scars carried by the journalist’s travelling the world to capture the traumatic stories of war and natural disasters but she also shines a light on the lifesaving work of the Flying Doctors Service and the constant need for financial support to keep them in the air.
